Challenges & achievements

Executing a structural build within a fully operational, high-traffic international railway station presented intense logistical constraints, requiring exceptional operational flexibility and flawless synchronization with the SNCB. Starting from a true blank slate with an empty space and no pre-existing walls, DGW orchestrated the complete structural and spatial engineering lifecycle, coordinating with structural engineers to erect a custom, load-bearing timber frame structure. Every operational requirement for this high-exposure hub was thoroughly challenged and refined alongside Eurostar to seamlessly integrate an open, welcoming ticketing and information desk with a cleverly concealed, private staff breakroom.

This project stands as a major milestone, highlighting DGW’s capability to exceptionally spearhead both architectural design and technical execution—a comprehensive scope encompassing custom timber framing, complex special techniques coordination, and bespoke furniture fabrication. By delivering a warm, minimalist, and highly functional gateway environment, De Graeve Works has successfully brought Eurostar’s premier station vitrine to life, further cementing a proud, long-standing corporate partnership built on premium craftsmanship and mutual trust.
